The event combined friendly rivalry, national pride, and entertainment, reminiscent of the Ryder Cup but reimagined for padel. Over two days, players, fans, media, and partners came together to witness world-class matches and off-court engagement, marking a new chapter for international padel.
Padel 22: Driving the Event’s Success
At Padel 22, we were in the drivers seat for all of the PR, media, and communications for the Cup, ensuring the event achieved an unprecedented impact, and a global audience from start to finish. From pre-event press releases, through to managing on-site media, and post-event storytelling, we positioned the AAPC as a landmark moment for the sport and one of the most historic rivalries in global sport.
Our approach included:
PR Strategy
We designed and executed the full PR campaign, creating a compelling narrative around the UK vs USA rivalry, the sport’s growth, and the cultural significance of the Cup. This narrative became the backbone of all media engagement, ensuring journalists and broadcasters had a clear, exciting story to tell.
Media Relations
We proactively engaged tier-one outlets, securing padel’s first-ever coverage on mainstream TV and prominent coverage across radio and 44 online platforms. Highlights included:
- ITV News — showcasing the UK vs USA rivalry and the sport’s growth.
- BBC The One Show (supported by Exposure London) — mainstream TV exposure, reaching over 5 million viewers.
- talkSPORT Radio — discussing the international significance of the Cup and padel’s Olympic potential.
- LBC News — covering the event’s cultural impact and audience reach.
- GB News — highlighting grassroots and elite development opportunities for padel.
We also coordinated and secured editorial coverage across Sport Industry News, City A.M., talkSPORT, NE Londoner and Florida Tennis ensuring press attention before, during, and after the tournament.
Communications & Social Media
We created and executed a comprehensive Communications Strategy, including social media content, live updates, and highlight reels, which amplified the event globally. Key examples included Instagram behind-the-scenes and event recap reels.
By managing all PR, media, and communications, Padel 22 ensured the AAPC was not only a sporting success but also a cultural moment, elevating padel into the mainstream and creating a template for future editions.
What’s Next for the Anglo American Padel Cup?
The success of the inaugural Anglo American Padel Cup has set a new benchmark for international padel. Building on this momentum, we are already planning the next edition, which we’re taking Stateside!
As the Cup grows, so too will its impact, promoting padel as a truly global sport and inspiring more players, clubs, and fans to get involved on both sides of ‘the pond’.
We are proud to have been at the heart of this milestone moment, to deliver an event that resonated with audiences, media, and the padel community alike. The Anglo American Padel Cup may have started as an idea, but thanks to strategic PR, media, and communications, it has become a movement, and we can’t wait to see where it goes next.
